HUAWEI PARTNERS WITH TTCL TO LAUNCH 4.5G

27th October 2016 – Dar es salaam. Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has today joined hands with the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) to launch the 4.5G network for the first time in Tanzania.

The launch ceremony held at Mlimani City conference hall in Dar es Salaam attracted various key stakeholders in the market as well as government officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, The Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of works, Transport and Communication Prof. Faustino Kamuzora who was also the Chief Guest congratulated Huawei for their full support to various government projects as well as their continued partnership with TTCL.

“I would like to urge other companies and the public at large to give their full support to TTCL as a way of supporting government efforts in making the telecom firm the market leader in Tanzania.

Meanwhile, Huawei Tanzania Managing Director Bruce Zhang said the launch of 4.5G Technology in Tanzania marks the continuing journey of TTCL’s transformation to make aggressive market penetration in Tanzania.

He said for more than 10 years, Huawei and TTCL have partnered to transform Tanzania’s telecommunication sector by ensuring that they provide the fastest and most reliable network for the development of the nation.

“This launch reveals a long history between Huawei Tanzania and TTCL in providing ICT solutions in Tanzania including Mobile Broadband and Fix Broadband. e believe both 4G and 4.5G will contribute effectively to TTCL and make the company achieve its business strategic objectives, whereby, Huawei will also introduce the Fix broadband solutions that can be the powerful engine for TTCL revenue”. He said.

On his part, the TTCL Managing Director Waziri Waziri Kindamba thanked Huawei for their partnership and strong working relations among the two companies.

He said TTCL is very strong in fixed data and landlines in Tanzania serving almost each sector including all government institutions and private entities.

He added that the current applications of 4.5G-LTE include more advanced and amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high definition mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D television and cloud computing.

Huawei has been a key ICT contributor to various government projects in Tanzania and it is with this background that last year the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government for ICT cooperation, whereby Huawei became the official ICT advisor to the Tanzanian government.  The company has also received an ‘Outstanding ICT leadership and contribution’ award from the Government for its leadership position in the ICT field in Tanzania.
